My Story

Me 2021-2.jpg

Hi.

I first started writing what would become Can't You See It? in 2007.  I found myself with a head full of ideas and decided to set pen to paper, or, more like it, fingers to keyboard.  The two main characters, Charles and Simone, materialized fairly quickly, and their individual and collective stories matured nicely as I dove deeper into the main plot.

As things progressed, so did the list of characters: Raul, Claire & Ian, Mr. & Mrs. Falsone, Mr. & Mrs. DiMaggio, Mr. & Mrs. DuPont and Napoleon Brice; Mimey & Appolonia, the FBI agents Tucker & Osborne, the Nursing Staff in Savannah and others.

I have always enjoyed reading and writing, and I find writing to be a therapeutic retreat to the safer places in my imagination.  My wife, cats and I live in North Carolina, somewhere between the Atlantic Ocean and the Appalachians.  I enjoy listening to most types of music and play keyboards, bass guitar, and sing in our church's Praise Band.

Can't You See It? reflects my faith and belief system around hard work, honesty, caregiving and the joy of life.  With that in mind, I hope you also find a sense of joy and faith as you travel with the characters through the good and bad times, through family gatherings, good meals, and periods of utter distress and loneliness.  Keep reading - the story unfolds to the very end!

Can’t You See It? Charles Pendleton and Simone duPont seek, but don’t always see. Simone seeks love; Charles seeks a way to feel settled and be satisfied. Neither see that love and security is right before them until it is taken away. Things become visible in the dark moments of deception: things that were once overlooked; things once taken for granted; things driven by greed and ambition.
Out of the darkness, like a sunrise and a second chance to refocus, Pendleton and duPont change their perspectives and see, feel, believe, and experience things for what they are.
This inspirational, dramatic, adventurous love story blends elements of career, life, loss, and recovery, and shares a clear and insightful message through the eyes of a man, woman, their friends and their families and a year of life opportunities in France, Italy, England and North America.

My Books
  <-   Images & Thoughts   ->

Can't You See It? is a work of fiction that takes place in France, England, Italy, and the U.S. between two main characters and a host of supporting characters.

As with all good romantic drama, the characters' sense of faith, trust, hope and spirit of determination are supported and challenged by pain, struggles, and eventual growth.

Somewhat autobiographical, the plot and the characters were inspired by places I've been or want to be, people I've known or wish I knew, music that moves me or gives me strength, and ideas about the way the world is and how I wish it was.

The following images helped me form, or reflect, certain parts of Can't You See It?

I look forward to your hearing your thoughts!
